Workspace Education is a place where children can do enormous projects and solve real world problems but most importantly it is a place where children own their learning. We are incubating lifelong learners who are curious, engaged and excited to challenge themselves and to make a difference in the world.
Hands on learning is not new. Johann Pestalozzi (1746-1827), who inspired Maria Montessori believed that education should develop the powers of the head, heart, and hands. He believed that empowering and ennobling every individual in this way was the only way to improve society and bring peace and security to the world. His aim was for a complete theory of education that would lead to a practical way of bringing happiness to the world.
History and understanding the great ideas that have shaped mankind’s journey to this time in place is a theme in Montessori Adolescent Pedagogy. Montessori schools often use Dramatis Persona to bring epochs in history alive for the students.
We are excited to have found Anthony Depoto who teaches theatre at Western Connecticut State University. He teaches all types of theatre from musicals, Shakespeare, improv, and even a “History through Theater” program. Start dreaming about the classes you would like him to teach as he has blocked out time for us and we have our theater classroom underway!
