In case you missed it, it’s Thanksgiving week, filled with preparations for travel and cooking and familial and other kinds of get-togethers. Here at Workspace Education, and for all Americans, it is a week to take stock and be grateful for the gifts this year has brought us. This has been a year of growth and achievement and recognition for Workspace, and we want to offer some thanks.
We have grown from our original 17 families to over 50. Acton Academy opened this year, offering a drop-off option for our members. We continue to build our unique-to-us 21CI integrated multidisciplinary curriculum, and add new courses and initiatives almost every week. This all stems from the imaginations of our members. So the first thing we are thankful for is our amazing, generous families, especially the learners, who are blazing their own unique educational pathways.
There are so many accomplishments to be proud of. Our members have brought their entrepreneurial spirit to Workspace and launched micro-startups that are making real-world sales today. Our drama program is rehearsing for another fully-staged Shakespeare production, Much Ado About Nothing, next month, with all props and costumes made right here by our members.
And the world is taking notice. In recent weeks, our Founder and Child Cheerleader in Chief Cath Fraise attended two major conferences bringing together leaders in the movement to change the educational paradigm. She represented us at the iNACOL conference in Nashville, the leading event for K-12 competency-based, blended and online learning, and then at the Center for Reinventing Public Education conference in Seattle two weeks ago. Workspace was selected as a groundbreaker in putting children at the center of their education. They even put us up on the board!! Major props! We are honored, and of course, grateful.
Our Dream Director Jenai Fitzpatrick brought a group of Workspacians to Reimagining Education’s Spark conference in Washington DC. They learned a lot about collaborating toward the goal of child-centered learning. They also had lots of fun, which is an important part of learning, we believe.
With your support, we will keep on making these great strides in reinventing education, and keep on growing and achieving.
So this week, as you are enjoying your turkey or tofurkey or whatever it is you deem yummy, know that we are giving thanks for your being part of something really wonderful and new here at Workspace. We wish a happy and safe Thanksgiving to everyone.
